Meet Ken

Ken began his hairstyling journey in 2009, guided by a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. Influenced by Japanese and Korean aesthetics and shaped by Western culture, he views hair as a canvas for self-expression across cultures.

Travel has been Ken’s greatest teacher. Each country he visits offers new insight into how people live, dress, and express themselves. These experiences shape not only his technique, but also his understanding of what makes someone feel truly seen.

After settling in Melbourne, he pursued advanced training and immersed himself in the local style culture. For Ken, hairstyling is about more than trends. It is about creating work that feels personal, considered, and enduring.

At KÈMI Studio, he is building a space where quality, care, and connection come first, not only for clients, but also for fellow hairstylists. Especially those who, like him, have started again in a new country.

Ken believes beauty begins with empathy, and hopes every guest leaves feeling more confident, understood, and inspired.

Having spent half of her life in the industry, YZ’s commitment to excellence is no accident. Her career in high end salons was a conscious choice to surround herself with the best products, the finest techniques, and a culture that values quality.

Alongside hairstyling, she has studied colour theory and hair extensions to offer more complete and visually refined transformations.

I have been working in the hair industry for over eight years, specialising in custom layered cuts, soft face framing, ash toned colours, and personalised hair extensions. I love creating styles that feel natural and effortless, tailored to each client’s face shape, lifestyle, and personality.

Outside the salon, I enjoy exploring Melbourne for the perfect coffee, capturing small, charming moments through photography, and finding inspiration in nature, especially from birds like cockatoos. This curiosity and attention to detail flow naturally into the way I approach hair design.

My goal is to create hair that truly suits you and leaves a lasting impression long after your appointment.

I am originally from Japan and worked as a hairstylist for seven years in the Harajuku area of Tokyo. I specialise in women’s straightening treatments and men’s perm styles.

I believe hairdressing is a special profession that allows us to support clients through different stages of their lives. By understanding each client beyond their hair concerns, I can offer more personalised results, which is why communication is very important to me.

Outside of work, I love travelling and finding inspiration through different cultures and perspectives. I am committed to continuous learning and providing high quality service to every client.

Outside of hair, I find inspiration in plants. Even from the same origin, they grow differently over time.
